DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis softball (1-4) looks to complete the back-half of its non-conference schedule in Edmond, Okla., this Friday through Sunday, with five games on the docket at UCO-OC Classic against Oklahoma Baptist University (5-0), No. 11-ranked University of Central Oklahoma (4-2), Cameron University (1-3), No. 25-ranked Oklahoma Christian University (4-0), and Eastern New Mexico University (2-1).
 
Tournament Details
The Skyhawks first three games will be held at Central Oklahoma's Gerry Pinkston Stadium before moving next door to Oklahoma Christian's Tom Heath Field at Lawson Complex for the final two matchups. Both stadiums are separated by 4.2 miles down U.S. Bicycle Route 66. Tickets purchased at either venue will grant admission to both competition sites. Fans can watch the first three games via pay-per-view on the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association Network, with the final two games available with a subscription to FloCollege. Live statistics will also be available for free courtesy of the host institutions.
 
First Time Out
Fort Lewis went 1-4 in its trip to the 2026 Concordia Kickoff Classic in Irvine, Calif., last week. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Chloe Padilla (0-2) dealt in her debut, holding Concordia University Irvine (4-1) to two hits with three strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work before a field error pushed across the game-winning unearned run (1-0) in the sixth. Senior right-hander Hailie Mann (1-0) followed suit, making three appearances across the weekend, including a complete-game eight-inning outing against No. 14-ranked California State University San Marcos (4-1). Mann surrendered two earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five.
 
Freshman Izzy Cueva led all Skyhawks, going 5-for-12 in her four appearances with one double, one run scored, and two runs batted in (RBI). Makenna Milliman added four hits, two runs, and two RBIs with a double, with Alex Tenorio adding four hits and a double as well, and Alyssa Fockler leading all players with three runs scored.

Scouting Oklahoma Baptist
The Bison enter the tournament with the best record of Fort Lewis' five opponents, having swept the Lone Star Invite in Mansfield, Texas, last weekend. Oklahoma Baptist picked up a pair of 12-11 and 5-4 eight-inning signature wins over the University of Texas at Dallas (2-2) and Maryville University (2-2), respectively. In total, the Bison outscored opponents 35-21, and posted a .328 average as a team against a combined .266 average from its opponents. The Bison were picked to finish second in the year's Great American Conference preseason poll after a 36-17 overall finish last year.

Scouting #11 Central Oklahoma
Central Oklahoma battled to a 4-2 record at the Branson Leadoff Classic in Branson, Mo., last weekend, earning two run-rule victories over the University Sioux Falls (0-4), 9-1, and the University of Minnesota Crookston (0-4), 10-1, respectively, before ending the tournament with a 7-3 eight-inning victory over McKendree University (3-1). The Broncos batted .290 for the tournament with 18 extra-base hits to outscore opponents 43-25 overall. The UCO pitching staff posted a combined 4.05 earned run average with 42 strikeouts. The Broncos were voted to a second-place finish in the MIAA preseason poll after amassing a 52-11 record last spring.

Scouting Cameron
Cameron University kicked off the 2026 season with a 3-2 win over East Central University (1-3) before losing its final three games by a combined score of 30-18 at the Lone Star Invite. The Aggies' best offensive performance came in a 16-15 barn-burner nine-inning loss to No. 9-ranked Augustana University (3-2), in which Cameron racked up 10 hits and 12 RBIs while drawing 13 walks. Earlier this year, Cameron was voted to finish sixth in the Lone Star Conference in the league's preseason poll following a 29-24 campaign last year.

The Eagles flew out of the gates to a 4-0 record with a pair of 2-0 and 4-2 signature wins over the preseason No. 2 nationally ranked University of Tampa (0-2). Oklahoma Christian followed up with another sweep and a pair of 6-1 and 4-1 wins at Eckerd College (0-2). Voted to finish fourth overall on the LSC preseason poll, the Eagles have jumped out to a .315 average and a 0.50 ERA through their first four games, with opponents' batting a .202 average alongside a combined 3.75 ERA against OCU.

Scouting Eastern New Mexico
Picked to finish seventh in the LSC preseason poll, Eastern New Mexico has opened the 2026 season with a 2-1 record after a brief appearance at the Lone Star Invite. The Greyhounds kicked off the year with back-to-back 7-4 and 10-9 wins over the University of Minnesota Duluth (4-1) and No. 9 Augustana, respectively. ENMU then fell 7-2 to Emporia State University (4-1) in the final game. With a 30-25 record last season, the Greyhounds have jumped out to early success with a .235 team average and a 6.44 ERA.

Looking Ahead
Fort Lewis will return home and enjoy one week off before opening Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on the road at the Metropolitan State University of Denver (1-3) on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, with a pair of doubleheaders scheduled for 12 p.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
