Greyhounds race past Skyhawks in UCO-OC Classic finale

Fort Lewis goes 0-5 in Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla. – Fort Lewis College was defeated 12-3 by Eastern New Mexico University in five innings under a mixture of sun, cloudy skies, and spring showers on Sunday afternoon at Oklahoma Christian University's Tom Heath Field at Lawson Complex, marking an 0-5 record for the Skyhawks softball team at the 2026 UCO-OC Classic.

Eastern New Mexico, the designated home team by way of a coin flip, drew first blood in the contest after Carmen Alexander was left stranded on base in the top of the first inning following a two-out double for the freshman. The Greyhounds capitalized on a lead-off single and a one-out hit-by-pitch, scoring one run on a double down the left field line from sophomore Christina Meneses.

ENMU would tack on three more runs in the second, working a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch to load the bases before sophomore Miranda Guillen belted a double to left center field and cleared the bases on the first pitch she saw.

Fort Lewis showed life, however, pulling back within one run after scoring three runs of its own in the top half of the third. A throwing error put Skyler Dietz aboard the bases, Alyssa Fockler and Trista Hoobler both singled behind her to load the bases, and Alexander rifled an infield single to the shortstop to bring in a pair of runs. Alejandra Medina singled two at-bats later to punch in the final Skyhawks run.

The Greyhounds offense began to settle in, and as did the spring showers, in the bottom half of the third inning. Eastern New Mexico racked up eight runs on five hits, three walks, a wild pitch, and a passed ball as slight showers showed spurts of a downpour. Neither team recorded a hit the rest of the way.

True freshman Angelina Rubalcava (1-1) picked up first win of the season, tossing a no-hitter across the final 2.2 innings of the game with five strikeouts and no walks. Guillen (2-0) started in the circle for ENMU, throwing 2.1 innings with five hits, two earned runs, one walk, and three strikeouts before exiting after FLC threatened to tie the game. Chloe Padilla (0-4) took the loss, responsible for four earned runs on four hits and four walks with one strikeout. Addison Gavigan (0-2) and Hailie Mann (1-2) went 0.2 and 1.1 innings each, respectively, combining for eight unearned runs, three walks, and three strikeouts.
