DURANGO, Colo. – Skyhawks softball is back home on the rim this Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 14-15, as Fort Lewis (1-21, 0-12 RMAC) looks to battle the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (11-10, 5-7 RMAC) in a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series. First pitch is set for Noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Last Time Out
Fort Lewis suffered a 4-0 series sweep on the road in Lakewood, Colo., last weekend at the hands of now No. 15 nationally ranked Colorado Christian University (22-2, 12-0 RMAC). Facing one of the league's top pitching staffs, the Skyhawks managed to put up three runs in three games as well as six or more hits in three of the four games. Alex Tenorio paced the group with five hits, three runs, and a pair of runs-batted-in (RBI), supported by Carmen Alexander's four hits, one run, and four RBIs. Alejandra Medina, Paige Fuller, and Skyler Dietz each had three hits in the series. After settling into the lineup of the past two weeks, Fuller now carries the highest batting average among Skyhawks at .313 with five runs and five hits in 16 at-bats. Fuller is also 5-5 on stolen base attempts thus far.

Brick by Brick
The Skyhawks are a young squad, and the lineup has reflected such thus far, with just three individuals, Tenorio, Alyssa Fockler, and Trista Hoobler, making 20 or more starts this season. Among 12 conference teams, FLC ranks seventh in fielding percentage (.956), ninth in earned run average (ERA) (6.59), and 11th in batting average (.233). Fort Lewis has only been shut out twice thus far, managing to scratch together offense despite battling a 1.82 ERA from opposing pitchers. However, opponents have out-hit the Skyhawks 196-134, stolen 45 bases, and driven in 143 RBIs with the aid of 103 walks from Fort Lewis pitchers. As a pitching staff, FLC has posted 103 walks against 73 strikeouts, and surrendered an average of 2.20 walks+hits-per-inning-pitched (WHIP).
