Skyhawks challenge loaded field at Patriot Invitational

DURANGO, Colo. – The par-71 Quail Golf Club out on the West Coast in Carmel, Calif., awaits the Fort Lewis women's golf team Monday and Tuesday, Mar. 16-17, as the Skyhawks take on six nationally ranked opponents at the Patriot Invitational.
 
Fort Lewis is coming off a season-best third-place finish (624, +48) last weekend at the Southwest Minnesota State University Spring Invitational (Mar. 9-10) at Wigwam Golf Resort. Four Skyhawks finished in the top 25, including Peyton Gibby in T-6th (152, +8), Isabel Bustillos in T-13th (156, +12), Dimery Plewe in T-18th (157, +13), and Ellie White in 24th (160, +16).
 
The Skyhawks will face a field of 12 teams, including No. 2-ranked Dallas Baptist, No. 3 Anderson University, No. 6 University of Texas at Tyler, No. 15 California State University San Marcos, No. 17 University of Tampa, No. 25 Ferris State University, California State University Monterey Bay, California State University Los Angeles, Angelo State University, Rogers State University, and California State University East Bay.
 
The Quail Golf Club's par 71 course stretches out to 6,464 yards at the black tees with a slope of 129 and a rating of 71.7.  
 
Looking Ahead
The Skyhawks will enjoy two and a half weeks of rest after this week's trip before heading back to Arizona for the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association Palm Valley Classic over at Palm Valley Golf Club on Friday and Saturday, Apr. 3-4.
