4/1/2026 12:00:00 PM

DURANGO, Colo. – The two-week homestand continues for the Fort Lewis softball team (6-28, 5-19 RMAC) this Thursday and Friday as the Skyhawks play host to the Cowgirls of New Mexico Highlands University (8-28, 6-18 RMAC) for another thrilling Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series up on Aspen Field.

Soaring Skyhawks
Fort Lewis is coming off a big 3-1 series win over Adams State University (7-27, 6-18 RMAC) in which the Skyhawks downed the Grizzlies 5-3, 3-2, and erupted for an offensive rout in the series finale, 12-4. Carmen Alexander was explosive in the finale, becoming the first Skyhawk since 2024 to homer in back-to-back at-bats with a grand slam followed by a solo shot that kicked in the run-rule victory. Alexander also tied the single-game program records for homers (two) and runs batted in (RBI) with seven. Izzy Cueva was crucial in the series win as well, going 5-for-11 at the plate with three runs scored and four RBIs. Izzy Cueva (1-3) also picked up her first collegiate win in the circle, tossing a complete game with two hits, two unearned runs, five walks, and a pair of strikeouts on her ledger.
