Skyhawks to host Rangers for final series of 2026

4/30/2026 10:30:00 AM

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College softball team (13-37, 12-28 RMAC) is set to close out the 2026 campaign this Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, with the Skyhawks hosting the Rangers from Regis University (13-33, 12-28 RMAC) for one final four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series at Aspen Field up on the rim. Friday's doubleheader will start at 12 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. start on Saturday to accommodate Fort Lewis' graduation.

Senior Send Off
On Saturday, Fort Lewis will honor its five graduating seniors for their tireless hard work, dedication, and commitment to Skyhawks softball during their time in Durango, including catcher/infielder Cali Niccum, infielder Alejandra Medina, infielder Alex Tenorio, and pitcher Hailie Mann. The five student-athletes have combined for over 415 appearances in a Skyhawks uniform.

Soaring Down the Stretch
Fort Lewis will look to cap the season on a high note this weekend, riding its recent success with a 3-1 series win over Chadron State College (6-43, 6-34 RMAC) at home two weeks ago, and a 2-2 neutral-site split with Black Hills State University (24-27, 21-19 RMAC) up in Fort Collins, Colo., last weekend. In total, the Skyhawks have captured five wins over their last eight games.

Chloe Padilla (4-15) has played a strong role in the Skyhawks recent success, earning three wins in the circle in as many starts, holding opposing hitters to six earned runs on 15 total hits against 16 strikeouts in her last 21.0 innings of work. On the offensive side, Skyler Dietz has been red-hot, carrying a 12-game streak, followed up by a three-game hitting streak from Alyssa Fockler and a two-game streak from Rhiannon Lister.

Rangers on the Prowl
Regis is looking to cap the 2026 season on a high note in a similar fashion to the Skyhawks, having dropped each of its last three series with just a single 9-7 victory over New Mexico Highlands University (17-35, 15-25 RMAC) over its last 12 games. Before the skid, the Rangers had handled Chadron State with a four-game sweep after a 2-2 split with Colorado School of Mines (25-28, 20-20 RMAC).

From a bird's-eye view, Regis ranks in the middle of the conference in offense with a combined .307 batting average and a .409 slugging percentage, having racked up 380 total hits and 93 extra-base hits thus far.
