Agostinho claims first RMAC Offensive Player of the Week award for 2026

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fort Lewis College sophomore forward Simão Agostinho has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Week One Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of braces to lead the Skyhawks to two wins on opening weekend.

Fort Lewis (2-0) claimed its first of two victories thanks to Agostinho in a tight 2-1 win over Lubbock Christian University (1-1) before following up with a commanding 7-0 rout over West Texas A&M University (1-1). Agostinho needed only 98 minutes between both matches, including coming on as a substitute early against the Chaparrals, to record all four goals.

A native of Loulé, Portugal, Agostinho joined the Skyhawks this season as a transfer from William Penn University. He made his Fort Lewis debut in the 26^th minute of the season opener and relished all 120 seconds before slipping through three defenders on service from Raul Baptista Filipe to net his first collegiate goal at FLC. Agostinho continued to press as the lone man up front, and he was rewarded in the 72^nd minute when he claimed an errant pass on the back line, evaded the goalkeeper, and punched his second goal into the open net.

The six-foot-one striker continued his streak of dominance on Saturday afternoon, first by using a stutter-step approach to bury an easy penalty kick attempt in the 27^th minute against the Buffalos. Agostinho's final goal of the week was arguably his most impressive, as he took service on a pair of give-and-go passes from midfield to outrace three defenders to the top-left edge of the penalty area before glancing a shot off the turf under the diving goalkeeper and inside the right post.

Through opening weekend, Agostinho leads all of NCAA Division II in total goals (two), total points (eight), penalty kicks (one), and ranks second in goals per game (2.0), third in points per game (4.0), fourth in game-winning goals (one), fifth in shots on goal per game (3.0), 19^th in shots per game (4.0), and 49^th in shot accuracy (75 percent) nationally.

Fort Lewis continues its non-conference schedule as the Skyhawks welcome St. Edward's University (1-0-1) for its 2026 home opener this Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. under the lights of Dirks Field. Tickets are on sale now through HomeTown Ticketing.
