DURANGO, Colo. — The Fort Lewis College golf team will host a golf tournament fundraiser at
Hillcrest Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday, October 27-28. Tee times begin at 11 a.m. each day.
Entry fee is $75 for Hillcrest members and $95 for non-members. Cost includes lunch after play on Sunday as well as five tickets for a post-tournament drawing. Additional tickets for drawing items may be purchased. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place teams.
This unique event is a modified Las Vegas scramble that features pairs Skyhawk golfers with three-person teams. Golfers are encouraged to pick their own three-person teams, then “buy” their favorite FLC golfer in a silent auction. The FLC golfer will play his own ball on each hole, but may help his teammates on the tee shot only. His three other teammates will play scramble from the best tee shot selected. The FLC player's score plus team scramble score will be added together each day.
The event kicks of with a meet and greet from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 26 at the Irish Embassy Pub in downtown Durango. Light appetizers and a cash bar will be provided. During the meet and greet event, the silent auction of FLC players will begin, along with other items including four rounds of golf and a cart at the Glacier Club and two rounds of golf and a cart at Adams Mountain Country Club in Eagle, Colo. The winning bidder for the Adams Mountain package must be accompanied by FLC head coach Bud Andersen and Adams Mountain head golf professional and former FLC golfer Eric Bradley — a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Following the tournament, there will be a drawing for numerous items, including: two rounds of golf and a cart at Dalton Ranch Golf Club; two rounds of golf and a cart at Pinon Hills Golf Course in Farmington, N.M.; a Mizuno JPX-800 driver; one dozen Titleist Pro-V1 golf balls with Skyhawk logos (official team issue); one set of FLC Skyhawk head covers (driver and 3-wood, official team issue); a Cleveland wedge (tour issue); four rounds of golf plus cart at Moab Golf Club in Moab, Utah; an FLC Skyhawk Mizuno jacket (official team issue); four rounds of golf and cart at Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez, Colo.; and two separate Hillcrest Golf Club packages featuring two rounds of golf and a cart.
