Women’s Golf Completes Final Round in Pueblo on Monday

PUEBLO, Colo. – Summer Vigil continued her strong play for the Fort Lewis College women's golf team as she fired a pair of 76's to end up with a 152 to help lead the Skyhawks to a 12^th-place finish at the El Cheapo Classic that took place at the Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo.

FLC had rounds of 320 and 324 for a 644 to remain in 12^th, just seven-shots back of Colorado Mesa in 11^th. St. Mary's remained in the lead and took the title with a 581, holding off West Texas A&M by 11-strokes. St. Mary's Paige Weiss won the individual title with a 141, just edging out her teammate Regina Gonzalez by a stroke.

Vigil was consistent all tournament long and compiled rounds of 76 for a 152 to tie for 22nd. She sank a pair of birdies on holes 11 and 12 and compiled 11 pars during the final round. Isabella Martinez fired rounds of 78 and 82 for a 160 to tie for 46^th. She posted a birdie on hole four on Monday. Sophie Schwartz had the same round scores of 83 each day for a 166 to tie for 58^th. She added a birdie on hole 17. Judith Camacho was right behind with a 168 to land in 64^th after scoring rounds of 85 and 83. She compiled 11 pars during the final round. Rounding out the five for the Skyhawks was Shelby Hindes who carded a 176 with rounds of 83 and 93 to tie for 73^rd.

As a team, FLC averaged 3.88 on par-three, 4.60 on par-four and 5.18 on par-five. They came away with 78 pars and 14 birdies. Individually, Vigil led the team in both par-three (3.13) and par-four (4.35) scoring while Martinez led the team in par-five at 4.75. Vigil led the team in pars with 21 and in birdies with five.

FLC will return to action next week when they travel to Goodyear, Ariz., to compete in the Mustang Intercollegiate Apr. 4-6 at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
