Vigil, Morris Named Student-Athletes of the Week

Junior Summer Vigil and sophomore Emily Morris were named student-athletes for the week.

Vigil set a new program low score record while tying for first at the Mustang Intercollegiate when she carded a 143 after rounds of 71 and 72. Her individual record came just a day after FLC set a new program low record as a team with a first round 312. Vigil was near the top of the field in par-three scoring at 3.00 and par-four at 4.15, while tying for the lead in the field in par-five at 4.50. She added 22 pars and was just one birdie off the most in the field with eight. As a team, FLC placed 19th out of 23 teams.

Morris tossed the seventh no-hitter in FLC program history and it was the first no-hitter thrown by an RMAC pitcher this season on her way to being named RMAC Pitcher of the Week. Morris closed the series in style picking up the no-hitter in a 16-0 five inning win. She allowed just three baserunners on three walks and posted five strikeouts in tossing 75 pitches without allowing a hit. Earlier in the day on Sunday, Morris closed out the 7-4 win as she tossed a perfect seventh inning with two strikeouts to get the save. Morris also got a win in the second game of the series when she tossed another complete game, going six innings and allowed three earned runs and seven strikeouts. For the week she worked 12 innings, went 2-0 with a save, had a 1.75 ERA and tallied 14 strikeouts.
