Skyhawks seek high finish at RJGA South Central Shootout to close out fall schedule

DURANGO, Colo. – After an unsavory finish two weeks ago in Wichita Falls, Texas, the Fort Lewis College men's golf team is headed back to the Lone Star State, this time at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association South Central Shootout on Monday and Tuesday.
 
Co-hosted by the RJGA and Western New Mexico University, the tournament will take place at Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso, Texas.
 
Constructed in 2007 by Tom Fazio and Dennis Wise, Butterfield Trail Golf Club features 7,307 yards of challenging championship golf. The course has a slope rating of 130 and a par of 72.
 
The tournament will feature a tough field of competition such as Saint Mary's University (Texas), Odessa College, New Mexico Junior College, Eastern Arizona College, New Mexico Military Institute, University of Texas at Tyler, Dallas Baptist University, Lubbock Christian University, University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, University of Texas Permian Basin, and Texas A&M International University.
 
The Skyhawks will also compete against fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference members Colorado Mesa University, Westminster College (Utah), and Regis University.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Fort Lewis had a tough finish two weeks ago at the Midwestern State Invitational. As a team the Skyhawks took 13th out of 16 teams, shooting a combined 885 (295, 295, 295) and finishing 33 strokes above par. Ronald Kildall III had the highest individual finish with a 220 (71, 74, 75, +7) on the scorecard.
 
FINAL FALL COMPETITION
This will be the final event of the fall season for the Fort Lewis College men's golf team. The Skyhawks will head inside for the winter before preparing for its championship season in the spring.
