NEW LOOK
The Fort Lewis faithful will recognize a new yet familiar look from FLC this season. While graduating only two seniors last season, head coach David Oberholtzer had quite the busy offseason expanding his roster from 22 to 30 while also retaining 13 student-athletes and signing 17 new Skyhawks. The incoming class brings skill, experience, and depth, combined with 10 new freshmen and seven talented transfers.

RMAC PLAYERS TO WATCH
Junior Gabriel Legendre headlines FLC's group of players to watch this season. The 2022 Second Team All-RMAC honoree led the Skyhawks last season, scoring seven goals on 16 shots on goal while also adding five assists. Loic Jean-Baptiste, a 2022 All-RMAC Honorable Mention, looks to continue his momentum into the new year. Jean-Baptiste was second on the Fort Lewis roster with six goals, scoring all six across the final four games of the season. Tomas Duenes rounds out Fort Lewis' trio to watch for this season. A native of Torreon, Mexico, Duenes posted just one goal last season but led the Skyhawks with seven assists.

ABOUT THE CHAPARRALS
Lubbock Christian enters its second season under the direction of head coach Collin Cone. In his first season at the helm, Cone guided the Chaps to a 7-8-4 overall record with a 4-3-2 mark in conference play. LCU made the LSC Tournament but fell in the opening round to fifth-seeded Oklahoma Christian University by a 2-1 decision in double overtime.

The program's leading goal scorer from 2022, Pablo Galietero Diez, is returning to the Chaps' front line. A five-foot-seven graduate student from Madrid, Spain, Diez posted nine goals and three assists across his 1,113 minutes on the season. Lubbock Christian also returns veteran leadership on the back line with junior Tom Miles protecting the net again. Miles played in 16 of the Chaps' 19 games last season to earn a 2-3-2 record alongside a 1.11 goals-against-average with one shutout.

ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico returns to Durango for just the second matchup all-time between the Greyhounds and Skyhawks. In the first bout back in 2018, Fort Lewis erased a 1-0 deficit in the second half to storm back and down the Greyhounds 2-1. Last season EMNU posted a 5-8-2 overall record while going 2-6-1 through the Lone Star to finish ninth in the conference.

Eastern New Mexico returns its leading scorer from 2022 in Alexandre Meres. Meres, a sophomore from Le Bourget France, scored four goals and tallied one assist through 924 and 13 matches. Meres is joined on the front line by Ben Sauerlander and Sander Tonnessen who combined for five additional goals and two assists last season.

LOOKING AHEAD
Next Saturday, Sep. 9, Fort Lewis will welcome West Texas A&M University back to altitude and Dirks Field for the first time since 2015. The Skyhawks and Buffaloes will wrap up FLC's three-game home stand at 7:00 p.m.
