DURANGO, Colo. – Whalen Gymnasium is ready for volleyball action again this week as the Skyhawks are poised to kick off Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play against Westminster University and No. 12 Colorado Mesa University this week.

Looking Back
Fort Lewis hosted a six-team, 12-match invitational over the weekend and came away with a 2-2 record against fierce opponents. The Skyhawks' wins came over Texas A&M International (3-0) and East Central University (3-1). Senior JJ Curry and junior Natalia Lambos were named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the invite.

In the win over Texas A&M International, the Skyhawks held the opposition to a .010 hitting efficiency to mark a season-best. Senior Lauren Shea led the team with 10 kills and junior Sarah Wilkey paced players with 13 digs. Freshman Logan Spragg and Curry notched four blocks apiece. Against East Central, Fort Lewis hit a season-high .278 with a pair of sets seeing efficiency totals over .400. The team racked up seven aces, 50 digs, and 59 kills in the effort. Westminster is hitting .212 on the year and holds its opponents to a .206 efficiency. Serve receive has been down slightly to start the year as the Griffins are allowing for two aces per set from their opponents.

Offensively, Olivia Curtis leads the team with 2.63 kills per set on a .271 efficiency. She is followed by Claire Cooke and Regan Jackson who each average over two kills per set. Three setters have seen time coordinating the offense, and Leila Cornejo leads the way with 4.90 assists per set. Four players pick up over two digs per set, led by Abby Reardon who is averaging 2.85 per set.

Scouting No. 12 Colorado Mesa University
The Mavericks are off to an impressive start to the season, ascending to No. 12 in the AVCA Coaches Poll with an 8-0 record.
