Heck to race at NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships

DURANGO, Colo. – Senior Katie Heck is poised to represent Fort Lewis College at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, competing in the women's 800m as the No. 5 seed.

The 2024 championships will take place Friday, March 8 through Saturday, March 9 at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas. Pittsburg State University will host the event. The women's 800m prelim will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Heck was announced as the program's first-ever indoor national qualifier last Wednesday, one of 540 total participants heading to the campus of Pittsburg State. She enters Friday's prelims with a seed time of 2:08.37. She will compete against 16 student-athletes, three of whom hail from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Heck will race in heat one of three in the prelim, a heat that also houses Jessica Simon from Adams State. The top two finishers from each heat, plus the next two fastest times, advance to Saturday's finals.
