Oberholtzer finalizes roster for 2024

DURANGO, Colo. – With just over four weeks remaining until the Skyhawks begin the journey to defend their regular season title, the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team has finalized its roster for the 2024 campaign highlighted by the signing of nine freshmen, one sophomore transfer, and five junior transfers.
 
This season's international class features a pair of talents from Costa Rica alongside signees from Sweden, Norway, England, and Canada. Stateside, the Skyhawks have added talents from Oregon, Washington, and Fort Collins, Colo.
 
As for transfers, Fort Lewis adds a sophomore from NCAA DII Academy of Art University alongside three juniors from Utah State University Eastern and a pair of juniors from Scottsdale Community College and Mesa Community College.  
 
"First off, I want to thank Coach Nino for the tireless effort he's put towards this stellar recruiting class," head coach David Oberholtzer shared. "We're really excited about this group of student-athletes and the impact that they will all have on our program. We believe we've raised the overall level of the group and have created an incredibly competitive environment for our players to train in on a daily basis. The quality, maturity, and character of this group is going to help take us to the next level and we can't wait to get started."
 
Tristen Banquil – 6'0" | Midfielder | Scottsdale, Ariz. | Desert Mountain | Academy of Art
Banquil, Fort Lewis' lone sophomore transfer, makes the move from San Fransisco, Calif., after playing one season for the Urban Knights. Making nine starts across his 11 games played, Banquil racked up 830 minutes on the pitch while supplying eight total shots on the year. Additionally, Banquil was recently named the recipient of Academy of Art's ArtU Male Servant Leadership Award.
 
Casey Stracher – 6'0" | Defender | Kamas, Utah | South Summit | Utah State Eastern   
Stracher is no stranger to the pitch as he started in all 30 games played for the Eagles at Utah State Eastern. As a defender, Stracher was twice named First-Team All-Region while providing six goals and one assist during his time in Price, Utah.
 
Aiden McMullin – 5'8" | Midfielder | Draper, Utah | Corner Canyon | Utah State Eastern
McMullin is another experienced talent who started in 30 of his 31 games played for USU Eastern. An All-SWAC honoree, McMullin tallied 10 goals and eight assists for 28 career points across his two seasons with the Eagles.
 
Austin Tesch – 6'2" | Defender | Kamas, Utah | South Summit | Utah State Eastern
Tesch rounds of Fort Lewis' third signee from Utah State Eastern this season and the fourth in the past two years. Tesch made 13 starts in his 19 games played while scoring two goals and adding one assist in his final season. In addition, Tesch was named to the 2023 Region 18 All-Tournament Team.
 
Darek Rittmueller – 6'0" | Defender | Phoenix, Ariz. | Mountain Pointe | Scottsdale Community College
Rittmueller adds even more depth to the Skyhawks back line after playing two seasons and making 27 starts across 29 games for the Fighting Artichokes. During his time at SCC, Rittmueller took 20 total shots to register three goals while also adding four assists.
 
Cole Wood – 5'10" | Midfielder | Gilbert, Ariz. | Perry | Mesa Community College
Wood caps Fort Lewis' incoming veterans as a two-year member of the Thunderbirds soccer team that made back-to-back trips to the NJCAA Regional Tournament including an appearance in the NJCAA DII Men's Soccer Championship in 2022. Making 19 starts in 28 games, Wood tallied three career goals and two assists.
