Fort Lewis College Athletics

One of the best multiple sport athletes in Fort Lewis College history, Albert Hurd lettered back-to-back years in football, basketball and track for the Aggies from 1959 through 1961.

As a basketball player, Mr. Hurd led the Aggies in rebounding both seasons and pulled down a single-game high 31 rebounds on one occasion. As a track star he single-handedly led the green and gold to a fifth place finish at the NJCAA track and field championships in Big Springs, Texas.

After a stint in the armed services, Mr. Hurd returned to Fort Lewis College to letter two more years in football, basketball and track.

He taught in the Denver Public Schools for more than 25 years.
