Fort Lewis College Athletics

In 1938, Mickey Brennan became the first basketball player in Fort Lewis College history to be named to a post-season all-star team. The Aggie center earned first-team All-Intermountain JC honors.

A former Durango High School athletic standout, Brennan's contributions to Fort Lewis College sports were just beginning. He officiated Fort Lewis College games in the 1950s and served as the school's official basketball scorekeeper from 1956 through 1992 — an era that saw such different basketball coaches as Ned Wallace, Don Whalen, Larry Overstreet, Chuck Walker, Bob Hofman, Sam Antcliffe and Jim Cross.

In 1978, Brennan received the prestigious Centennial Award from Fort Lewis College for his outstanding contributions to the school. Other Centennial Award winners included United States President Gerald Ford.

He died on Dec. 7, 1994, age 75.
