During his four-year Nordic skiing career at Fort Lewis College from 1967-70, Pat Miller earned All-America honors in Nordic combined in 1970 while helping the Raiders to a third place finish at the NCAA championships. He was a member of the U.S. Nordic Ski Team from 1968-74, and was chosen as an alternate on the American squad at the 1972 Winter Games in Sapporo.
Miller graduated from Fort Lewis College in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
From 1974-99, Miller was instrumental in building Utah into the premier skiing program in the NCAA. He was an assistant ski coach from 1974-76, and became head men's ski coach in 1976. Miller added head women's coaching duties in 1978, and guided both squads as director of skiing through his retirement in 1999. The Utes won eight combined NCAA men's and women's national championships in 1983, '84, '86, '87, '88, '93, '96, and '97, and an additional men's title in 1981. From 1983-88, the Utes dominated the collegiate ski scene by winning five national titles and finishing as the runner-up in the other season. An incredible 251 Utah skiers earned All-America accolades during Miller's coaching career.
