Fort Lewis College Athletics

Longtime Fort Lewis College faculty member Aubrey Holderness got his start at the college as a two-time Empire Conference singles tennis champion in 1959 and 1960.

He returned to Fort Lewis College in 1965 and served as a business professor for nearly twenty years. During those years, Dr. Holderness participated in the establishment of the School of Business Administration in 1969, the attainment of accreditation in 1973, and reaccreditations in 1978 and 1983. He served as Dean of the School of Business Administration from 1979 to 1984.

In 1973-74, he became the first recipient of Fort Lewis College's Outstanding Teacher Award.

Dr. Holderness served as Head of the Business and Economics Department and professor at Arkansas Tech between 1984 and 1988. He was President of Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely.
