One of Margaret Good's physical education students at the Old Fort was Nellie Oldfield Horvath. Horvath attended Fort Lewis A&M from 1942 through 1945 and was considered one of the school's finest female athletes by her classmates. She participated in all women's athletics available at Fort Lewis College, including basketball and volleyball, and earned an athletic letter.

Horvath taught physical education and mathematics at Farmington Junior High School for more than 30 years, winning honors and recognition as a teacher.

She became the first female student-athlete in Fort Lewis College history to be inducted into the Fort Lewis College Athletic Hall of Fame when she was inducted in 1994.

The wife of FLC alumnus Raymond Horvath (a 1952 Old Fort alumnus), the couple's son, Gary, was a tennis star at Fort Lewis in the 1970s and head tennis coach for the Raiders and business instructor at FLC in the mid-1980s.

The Horvaths were regular attendees at FLC Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and Alumni Association events.

She died on July 27, 2011, age 86.
