Much of the Skyhawks' success in the 1990's has been attributed to Rich Hansen, who was known as a fierce attacker while competing for Fort Lewis from 1995-98.  A graduate of La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, N.M., Hansen ranks first all-time in school history in goals (33), total points (87) and shots (173) and third in assists (21).  His abundant honors include NSCAA/UMBRO All-American First Team (1998), NSCAA/UMBRO All-West Region first team (1998), All-RMAC first team (1998), All-CAC first team (1995), All-RMAC second team (1996), three-time RMAC Player of the week, two time RMAC champion.  Hansen continued his career in the professional ranks for several seasons, and even suited up in an exhibition game for Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids.

"Rich was a tremendous player from day one," said former men's soccer coach Jeremy Fishbein.  "He was one of our best players on the field and always a great teammate - a star player.  He was the type of person who would stay after practice and pick up the practice balls and do the menial tasks.  He has developed as a person over the years and has become a really successful young man."
