Joe Wolcott*

An honorable mention all-conference football player for Fort Lewis A&M Junior College in 1957, Joe Wolcott returned from the University of New Mexico to serve Fort Lewis College in various capacities.

He served as an assistant football coach (offensive and defensive lineman) and head athletic trainer from 1962 through 1974, then head wrestling coach in 1967.

Wolcott's administrative duties at the college took him from head resident of men's dorms to his roles as associate dean of students and director of security. He received the Fort Lewis College's Outstanding Staff Award in 1983.

As blood drive coordinator from 1967-72, Wolcott raised more than $10, 000 toward student scholarships.

He received his associate's degree from Fort Lewis in 1958. During his years, he was active in the Letterman's Club, Student Senate and the Westerner's Club.

He was active in several Durango-area service groups, including the Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge. He served as a volunteer firefighter from 1964-67 and as a Colorado Mounted Ranger from 1974-76.

Wolcott and his wife, Betty, are retired and living in Canton, Texas.
