Although he accepted a football scholarship to New Mexico, Harold Rinker started his collegiate career at Fort Lewis A&M to pursue a veterinary career. He became one of the best linemen ever to don football pads for the old green and gold. In just one season at Fort Lewis A&M, Dr. Rinker earned all-conference and honorable mention All-America honors.

After the 1951-52 school year, Dr. Rinker transferred to Oklahoma A&M where he earned All-Big Eight Conference honors in football in 1954. He received his bachelor's and doctor of veterinary medicine degrees from Oklahoma A&M.

During his professional career, Dr. Rinker has taught, been published in numerous trade journals, and served as a consultant to the livestock and pharmaceutical industries.
