Although Rob Zeilstra's basketball career at Fort Lewis College was relatively short — he played just two seasons for the Raiders from 1974 through 1976 — he accomplished more than most players do in four full seasons.

Mr. Zeilstra earned first-team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors as a senior when he led the conference in scoring and ranked fourth in rebounding. As a junior, he was a second-team All-RMAC selection.

He still ranks among Fort Lewis College's career leaders in rebounding (11th, 538) following the completion of the 2010-11 season.

After graduating from Fort Lewis College in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in physical education, Zeilstra began an eight-year professional basketball career in the Netherlands. He played for three different pro teams and the Dutch National Team during that time period, and was on two different Dutch squads that participated in the European Olympic preliminaries.

Zeilstra has taught, coached, and served as director of athletics at the American International School in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The school joined with the Japanese School in Rotterdam to form the International Education Center. Although the schools offer different curriculum, some facilities are shared and some programs-such as athletics and physical education-are integrated.

Zeilstra was responsible for designing the school's athletic facilities, and incorporated an adventure corner complete with a climbing wall in the gymnasium.
