Mike Elliott

Three-time Olympic skier Mike Elliott was inducted into the Fort Lewis College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981, become the school's first-ever student-athlete to acheive the distinction.

Elliott won the only NCAA individual titles in school history by capturing the cross-country skiing championships in 1965 and 1966, earning All-America honors each season.

He competed in the Winter Olympics in the 15 kilometer, 30 kilometer, 50 kilometer and cross-country relay events in 1964, 1968 and 1972. He also competed in the FIS World Championships in 1962, 1966 and 1970.

Elliott is also a member of the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame.

He graduated from Fort Lewis College in 1966 with bachelor's degrees in English and history.

Elliott was employed for many years by Purgatory-Durango Ski Resort, wearing such hats as the Base Area Manager, Manager of Purgatory Sports, Director of Skier Services and Director of Ticket Operations. He has also worked for many years at the DoubleTree Hotel in Durango.
