Joel Tribelhorn is considered by many Fort Lewis College basketball fans to be one of the finest pure shooters-and one of the best scorers-in school history.

Mr. Tribelhorn ranks third in Fort Lewis College history with 1,390 points, despite playing just three seasons from 1984 through 1987. In his final Fort Lewis College season, he averaged 24.4 points per game, leading the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in scoring and setting a school record in the process.

In that season, Mr. Tribelhorn was named NAIA District VII Player of the Year, second team NAIA All-American, and first team All-RMAC. More importantly, though, he helped the Raiders to their best record ever (21-6) and the school's first RMAC basketball championship.

At the time of induction, he owned numerous Fort Lewis College records, including best career and single-season three-point shooting (.500 in 1986-87), most three-pointers in one season (88 in 1986-87), and most points in a three-year career (1,390).

Mr. Tribelhorn transferred to Colorado State University after his junior season and helped the Rams into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He earned second team All-Western Athletic Conference honors and was the WAC's Newcomer of the Year in 1988-89. Just as he did at Fort Lewis College, Mr. Tribelhorn set a CSU record for three-point shooting, making 56 percent of his long-range shots (76 of 135).

He also played one season of professional basketball for the Youngstown Pride of the World Basketball League in 1990.

Mr. Tribelhorn graduated from Colorado State in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. From 1990 until 1993, he sold real estate for Wheeler Realty in Fort Collins. Mr. Tribelhorn also worked as an account representative and partner for Empire Title in Fort Collins.
