Hall of Fame
Tim Fitzpatrick had the most successful two-year career of any basketball player in Fort Lewis College history. A starting forward from 1991-93, he led the Colorado Athletic Conference in scoring by averaging 21.8 points per game as a senior after ranking second in the league in scoring as a junior (20.5 ppg). He was a first team All-CAC selection in 1992-93 after receiving second team All-CAC and first team All-NAIA District VII accolades a year earlier. He was also chosen to the Denver Post's second team All-Colorado Small College team as a senior and was chosen as the District VII Player of the Week once during his career.
Despite playing for the Raiders for just two seasons, Fitzpatrick still ranks among school career leaders in three-pointers (13th, 123), free throws (13th, 237), scoring (16th, 1,102 points) and field goals (20th, 371) through the completion of the 2010-11 season. He owns school records for points in a two-year career (1,102), consecutive free throws made (39 in 1992-93), best free throw shooting in a game (1.000, 17-for-17 vs. Adams State, Feb. 23, 1993) and best three-point shooting in a game (.889, 8-for-9 vs. Denver, Feb.29, 1992. Fitzpatrick also briefly held the school single-game scoring record (41 points, at Metropolitan State, Feb. 21, 1992), which was later broken in the mid-1990s. Still, Fitzpatrick is just one of four men's basketball players in school history to record a 40-point game.
Fitzpatrick graduated from Fort Lewis College with a bachelor's degree in exercise science in 1994 and received his teacher certification from FLC in 1996.
He has taught at Durango High School and coached a number of sports and levels of boys' and girls' basketball and soccer.
