Fort Lewis College Athletics

Longtime Fort Lewis College booster Sam Gilchrist was inducted into the FLC Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981. An appliance storeowner by trade, Mr. Gilchrist and his fundraising efforts were instrumental in establishing solid athletic programs at Fort Lewis A&M Junior College and Durango High School.

Mr. Gilchrist was a charter member of the Durango Rotary Club and a member of the Elks Club since 1925.
