Dag Seymour

Dag Seymour was one of the finest swimmers in Fort Lewis College history. A four-year letter winner from 1977 to 1981, Mr. Seymour was the Most Valuable Swimmer for the Raiders all four seasons. He received Fort Lewis College's Outstanding Male Athlete award as a senior in 1980-81.

Mr. Seymour's legacy can be seen in the Fort Lewis College record book, as he owned nine school records and two Fort Lewis College Natatorium records. His versatility can also be seen in these records, as he set school standards in the 200-, 500-, 1000- and 1650-meter freestyle, 100- and 200-meter backstroke, and three different freestyle relays.

He qualified for the NAIA National Championships all four seasons, and earned NAIA All-American honorable mention as a sophomore and junior. Mr. Seymour also earned numerous All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors in various events during his career.

In 1980, he qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100-meter backstroke.
After his career ended, Mr. Seymour served as assistant coach for the Raiders during the 1981-82 season. He graduated from Fort Lewis College in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in biology. He spent one year working on a master's degree in environmental biology at Hood College in Frederick Md., during the 1985-86 school year.

Mr. Seymour spent several years in science-related fields before entering the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Ore., in 1993. He graduated from the two-year program in one intensive year with honors. He worked as a baker and pastry chef in Oregon and Colorado, and was in charge of pastry production at The Bread Garden in Denver.
